Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode of a computer’s Operating System. This mode is used to help user’s repair critical system errors that may be interfering with the normal operation of Windows. Safe Mode loads only the Operating System, and the drivers for the mouse, keyboard, and video display.

An Example:
A few months ago, Microsoft released a Window’s Update that would cause 64-bit Operating System’s to Blue Screen. The issue was actually fixed by booting into Safe Mode, and uninstalling the Window’s Update was causing the issue (for the one’s who care, the update causing the issue was KB973879).

How To Access Safe Mode:
When starting your computer, tap f8 repeatedly, until prompted to start Safe Mode. Then, you will be asked to select one of three options to get you into Safe Mode…

Safe Mode:
This option is used to load Safe Mode. However, no networking connections will be loaded.

Safe Mode With Networking:
This option is used to load Safe Mode, and by selecting this option, you will have access to the Internet.

Safe Mode With Command Prompt:
This option allows you to have access to the command line, instead of having access to Windows Explorer (which the other options allows).
